Why $300 per month SEO is Harmful for your Business?

This was one of the hottest topics and was in debate couple of years back, not many ethical webmasters have much debated on this but the reason I brought this topic again is to let small business owners know that investing less on SEO may seriously hurt their business reputation. SEO is not something where limited investment will bring limited results but it’s something where limited investment may hurt your online business in the eye of search engine and users. I personally believe $300 per month for SEO is not a good investment for your business, your business deserves more.

There are several Reasons why $300 per month of SEO is not good enough for your business.

Quantity vs. Quality Ratio

Let’s accept the two facts first. 1. Everyone needs certain amount to live in today’s world and that’s definitely not $300 and 2. SEO is not cheap. If somebody is offering the SEO services for $300 per month, then he must be trying to cater number of clients to make a standard living. Quantity vs. quality ratio is not rocket science, SEO needs time and research and if someone is offering these services for as low as $300 then he is definitely compromising with quality which is harmful for the business.

Lack of Expertise

If you are good at composing music, will you compose a great melody for as cheap as $300? I guess no, and same goes for SEO, only a mate with no expertise is going to offer this in order to gain some quick money and portfolio. SEO is not as simple as it was couple of years back; it needs certain mind set and research. One SEO conference may cost $2000, so I am pretty much sure that if someone is offering the same services for such a low amount, then this is not a bonus but lack of talent and expertise which can hurt your business reputation.

Overworking

SEO is not plumbing or anything like that where hard work is the only key to success, SEO needs proper mindset and research skills, so in short SEO needs smart working rather than hard working. Offering the SEO for $300 means more clients in order to make good money and fewer resources to stay in budget. When one have more work and fewer resources to handle the work, then one starts overworking and when one starts to work more there lies more chances for him to make mistakes which is seriously harmful for your business.

Old School Technicians

SEO is a continuous process and so are the definite rules for SEO, the only thumb rule that’s still alive is the fact that SEO  is changing. If someone is offering you the SEO servicesfor $300 a month then this is highly possible that he is an old school SEO professional and may not be aware of the latest trends and techniques. Going to an old school technical for SEO is same as dumping your business in the dustbin.

Black Hat Techniques

Ok this is really dangerous as some times if you get caught by the search engine, it can pull you down from the rankings for certain period of time. JCPenney is one of the finest examples. If someone is offering SEO services for $300 only, then this is highly possible that in order to show you the results he might use some unethical and black hat techniques which can harm your business if you get caught.

Your business is important and you love it like you love your baby, right? Then why not spend at least as much as your business deserves. Within the limited $300 SEO, one may be involved in one or multiple problems mentioned above so in order to be ethical and grow your business in the online market, one should not run after the $300 SEO deals.
